Our Pastor

Gateway's pastor, Phil Maxwell, together with his wife Lynda and three kids Claire, Simon and David, were called by God as missionaries to the USA from South Africa in 1997. They founded Gateway Church in Bridgewater the following year and began meetings at the Green Knoll firehouse. In 2005 the church was in need of a larger facility and God provided a home at our current location in Bridgewater on Milltown Road.

Phil Maxwell completed a post graduate degree in Education at Rhodes University in 1977, and a post-graduate degree in Theology at the Theological College of South Africa in 1982. He began pastoring his first church in South Africa in 1983. Since then he has faithfully ministered the gospel in more than 20 nations.
